Wren's Song

This bronze sculpture, fabricated using a lost wax method called "ice casting", was inspired by the artist's love of enjoying the sound of the birds in spring; it portrays a bird in the middle of a textured tree made from cherry burl and displays a thin line of yellow glass for an accent. Its colors were added one at a time via torch and traditional chemical colors, resulting in depth and contrast.
