Sunlit Lavender

A luminous interplay of pattern and light: Sunlit Lavender is part of the JeanElton portfolio of ceramic SailVases, a collection known for its bold sculptural presence and intricate surface treatments. This vessel showcases a rhythmic, repeating motif in warm golden hues, rich terracotta, and deep blue, evoking the warmth of sunlight cascading across a delicate tapestry of color. A striking contrast emerges with the softly undulating rim, where a crisp white border accentuates the vibrant energy below.

A distinctive feature of Sunlit Lavender is the circular portal integrated into the form—an intentional break in the intensity of the surface treatment. This opening offers an interplay of negative space and shadow, allowing light to dance through the vessel and creating an ever-changing visual experience. The interior, finished in a soft lavender hue, deepens the intrigue, lending a quiet luminosity that complements the dynamic exterior.

The work is fired first to approximately 1800 degrees F, after which any remaining fine alterations are made, and the surface treatment is applied by hand by the artist. A second firing to about 2100 degrees F completes the process, ensuring its durability and artistic integrity.

This piece bears the JeanElton signature on its underside and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), both of which display its unique serial number.
