Nihonga

This painting was made using traditional Japanese mineral pigment painting methods, a labor intensive process that involves creating water based paints, binders, and glue using natural materials. Jeanne LaCasse utilized earth and ochre pigments, ground oyster shells, cochineal, and oxidized Japanese silver leaf, all applied to high quality paper and adhered to a dark brown matt board.

The painting is mounted on an archival matt board to ensure the deckled edges remain visible, housed in a black frame and is ready to hang.
