Magpies vs. Crows; Corvid Chess

Crows and magpies make for a noisy game of chess. To figure out who's who, titles are written on the underside of the pieces. But soon, their gestures become known and reflect their properties. The birds are poplar, carved on the band saw and with a rotary carving tool. The bases are birch. Painted with latex enamel with some touches of acrylic iridescence. The kings are the tallest pieces at 6". The rim of the birch plywood board is 1.5".
