The Story

Carol Lehmann's contemporary paper collages are crafted using combinations of torn and cut marbled Italian cotton papers as well as silk-screened Japanese and Indian embossed cotton papers, each showcasing natural inclusions. These papers are layered or sewn, and often include the use of inks, pastels, and dried foliage. The top layer is hardened encaustic wax medium featuring incised detailing. Mounted in a black floater frame, ready to hang.
Fabric & Care
Work should be displayed away from direct sunlight to prevent softening, or in freezing temperatures to prevent cracking. Encaustic pieces should not be framed under glass, since hot air can get trapped and create a greenhouse effect. With time a soft hazy cloud might form on the encaustic painting; surface can be buffed with a soft cloth and restored to its original shine.
