French Beach

This is a giclee print of a collage built from three collections of historical documents: American general store ledgers from the late 1800s hand-painted in sky blue, green, and warm gold; Louisiana highway engineering blueprints from 1945; and 19th century French legal procès-verbaux—meeting minutes—covered in iron gall script and embossed government seals, and layered along the foreground like tide-washed shore. The ledger pages, still dense with names and figures in period cursive, are cut into sun, sky, and hillside.
