Wheel-thrown cylinder was altered by cutting and folding. Some sections are layered with underglazes, then sanded. Others are glazed, then covered with a black underglaze and lightly sanded. Kinsugi, or "golden joinery," is an ancient Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with resin and powdered gold.
